Have you seen where we live!

Highmoss Farm

Highmoss Farm, situated near to the Lake District village of Bassenthwaite,  has three immaculate, fully equipped, static holiday homes positioned to the side of a meadow on a working beef and sheep farm. These holiday lets, which we started in autumn 2017, are a new venture for the farm. The location, is very rural yet just 15 minutes drive from the popular market town of Keswick and around the same from Cockermouth.

The holiday homes offer very comfortable accommodation for up to four people as all have 1 double and 1 twin bedroom. They have open-plan kitchen, living and dining areas which are fully gas central heated so very cosy if the weather gets a little chilly. Outside each has its own private veranda with dining area so in the warmer weather you can enjoy the views from the timber deck whilst dining out or just relaxing in the fresh air, maybe watching the wildlife and birds and you may even see the Bassenthwaite Lake District ospreys during the summer months.

The small village of Bassenthwaite is a three minute drive or a 10 minute walk away where there is a village pub offering good food and beer. For those that would like to give the car a rest, Bassenthwaite also has a regular bus service to both Keswick, Cockermouth and beyond (see timetable here).

There are many walks directly from the farm. From a short stroll to the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake or the somewhat more strenuous ramble to the top of nearby Skiddaw, there is something to suit every walker. Certainly, if it’s a little solitude you like when out fell walking then you would do little better than the ‘Back ‘o Skiddaw’ where you can walk for miles with only a slight chance of meeting anyone – such bliss!

For the more energetic there’s Dodd Wood and Whinlatter forests nearby which offer great mountainbiking.

The Watches

The Watches – Brand new for July 2018

We are pleased to now offer our third holiday home in amongst this most wonderful farm setting. A purpose-built holiday lodge, The Watches, sits at the top of the meadow and has plenty of space inside and outside whether you’re a couple or a family with children.

The Watches sleeps four with a double room with en-suite shower and toilet plus a twin room with single beds. Outside there is a large decked area for dining or relaxing (though please note on this first picture the decking is incomplete).
